AT A GLANCE

Why join?

The Live Stronger: Holistic Well-Being Learning Community at UCCS is geared toward students aspiring towards careers in sport, recreation, and wellness, as well as student-athletes. It intends to foster a supportive environment for students to navigate the college experience together, build a support network, and make lasting friendships. 

During class sessions:

  • students will explore ways to holistically care for themselves and build life skills.

Outside of class:

  • students will have plenty of opportunities to engage in social activities and professional development events tailored to enhance their career readiness.
  • participate in meetups to enhance your overall college experience, including weekend trips, socials, and more!

Learning Community Coach:
Each of our learning communities has a Learning Community Coach (LCC) - a student who shares a similar interest (in this case, an interest in well-being), who has successfully navigated their first year at UCCS. LCC's attend the Gateway Program Seminar (GPS) class every week and meet with students individually and in groups outside of class. LCC's help connect students with instructors, resources, and opportunities to get the most out of their college experience. 

How do I join?

To join the Live Stronger: Holistic Well-Being Learning Community, email learncom@uccs.edu for a permission code to enroll in GPS 1010.020. The Live Stronger: Holistic Well-Being Learning Community is designed for students interested in sport, recreation, and wellness careers, as well as student-athletes.

GPS 1010.020 - Live Stronger
Thursdays 1:40 PM to 4:20 PM (Aug. 22, 2024 - Nov. 10, 2024)
*Mandatory Gateway Days on August 22nd and 23rd from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days.

Course Description: This course focuses on building life skills that translate across disciplines with a sport education model; to include setting positive and attainable goals, finding balance in and out of sports, giving back to the community, choosing healthy behaviors, building healthy relationships and personal and career development.
